Ludwig Mies van der Rohe created the iconic D 42 chair in 1927. Its cantilevered tubular steel construction is a tour de force of modern design. The chair reflects the shift from traditional craft-built furniture design to industrial produced products intended for mass production that was taking place in the 1920s. The D 42 is both visually stunning and comfortable.
